Vick

So Michael Vick plead guilty yesterday and will be sentenced next Monday.
First, as a Atlanta fan, I am disappointed that Vick robbed the fans of his dynamic playmaking ability by just being stupid. He is certainly the best and most well known Atlanta athlete since Dominique Wilkins.
Second, I am glad he pled guilty so there is no question of his guilt, a segment of Atlanta continued to defend Vick at all costs even when everything pointed to his guilt. I am glad Vick pleas guilty thereby preventing the inevitable naysayers if Vick had been convicted by a judge or jury.
Third, the very people that continue to defend Vick are the same one's who have put Vick in this situation. Vick bought into his own greatness and invinsibility. There is no greater danger in life than believing you are invinsible. Vick's crew, hanger's on and fans fed Vick's ego, the same ego that has led to his demise.
Fourth, I hope Vick goes to prison for a year or two, I think that is fair and anything greater does not necessarily fit the crime. More importantly, I hope Vick gets himself in some serious therapy and gets his mind right, anyone that can push a dogs head into a paint bucket filled with water and hod the dogs head down until he dies has serious psychological issues. I believe it is best for Vick to give up professional football as he clearly can't handle the fame. Vick needs to get his head straight and clean house of the hangers on in his life, and maybe get into youth coaching and teach young people based on the mistakes he has made.
Fifth, this is a great time to teach your kids right and wrong particuarly if they are Vick fans. It can be as simple as Vick did bad things to animals and lied and now has to go to jail. It is a great chance to teach your kids about lying, having the wrong friends, and many other things.
Who's to blame? Ultimately only Vick is to blame, he made these choices and he made them for atleast the last six years, so this was not a one time mistake in judgement.
Here's hoping he gets his life together and down the line does positive things for kids and the animals he has wronged.
Finally, again you see how misplaced society's worship of athletes is
