Apple TV

Is Apple TV ahead of its time or the next IPod? I have reading up on and considering purchasing the Apple TV. Apple TV in short allows you to watch your downloads or listen to your music or look at your photos on your tv. I think the idea is really cool, download a movie or a tv show and watch it anytime without ever leaving the house. Say its Friday night, its pouring rain, you really want to watch a movie but you don't want to go out, easy, download it and watch it through Apple TV. Now I think its an idea that is somewhat ahead of its time because both movie's and tv shows are very limited still in their availability. I love the idea and think it will eventually aloow us to watch things in a whole new way. I can see a future in which you would never aimlessly search for shows on tv, hoping for something to watch, you would just load one of the shows you purchased. I think ultimately cost will drive its success. A $1.00 for a song is ok with me because it keeps me from purchasing a cd for $20.00 in many cases when I like one or two songs. But a tv show for a $1.00 is steep. I could see it working if eventually you can buy a whole season for $10 - $15 bucks. Also, it would be cool if you could download your favorite teams games and watch them in real time. Say, you live in NY but you want to see the Falcons from Atlanta football game, spend a couple bucks and download a live feed for a few bucks. The future is probably limitless but I think the idea is a little ahead of its time. I'm going to hold off buying one for now.
